State Prosecution Counsel Claims 1.2 Million BDT Deal Between Samira and Aziz with Don
Nearly three decades after the mysterious death of actor Salman Shah, the case's accused number four, film villain Ashraful Haq Don, has been arrested. Law enforcement agencies arrested him early last Sunday (August 9) at the immigration of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
On the afternoon of the same day, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) presented Don before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, requesting to keep him in custody. Following the hearing, the court ordered him to be sent to prison.
Sensational details have surfaced in the confession statement given under Section 164 by state witness Rezvi Ahmed. According to the statement, a secret relationship developed between Salman Shah's wife, Samira, and film producer Aziz Mohammad Bhai. Arising from that relationship, a contract of 1.2 million BDT was allegedly made with Don to murder Salman Shah.
In addition to the murder plot, Don and David are also accused of attempting to kidnap Salman Shah's brother, Biltu. Rezvi Ahmed was arrested on July 19, 1997, while planning the abduction of Biltu to pressure the family into withdrawing the case. He subsequently gave a confessional statement in court regarding this matter on July 24.
