Prime Minister Announces Distribution of Family Cards to 4.1 Million Families This Year

As part of expanding the country's social safety net, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has reiterated the commitment to bring 4.1 million (41 lakh) families under the 'Family Card' coverage within this year. Speaking at an event in Gulshan, Dhaka, he highlighted that the primary goal of this initiative is to ensure financial protection for marginal and low-income households, alongside rebuilding the economy and addressing energy challenges. Through these Family Cards, direct financial assistance will be delivered to beneficiary households, with long-term plans to gradually expand the program to cover nearly 16 million (1.6 crore) families nationwide.
